Do you struggle to express yourself under pressure?

Are you daunted by the prospect of speaking in front of an audience?

Do you struggle with nerves in interview situations?

We are the Confidence Box

We all face occasions when we need to communicate with assurance and presence. Occasions when we need to make a real connection with our audience to succeed. Where we need to appear compelling and authentic just when we feel most under pressure.

This might be in an interview situation, delivering a speech to a room full of people, or just raising a difficult issue with a colleague.

The Confidence Box help you excel in these pressure situations. Our coaching provides a framework of knowledge and performance techniques that will help you show up as yourself and make an impact when you most need to.

We help our clients to…

  • Perform under pressure
  • Pitch with confidence
  • Interview with authenticity
  • Deal with nerves
  • Deal with workplace challenges
  • Become authentic communicators

‘At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.’
Dr Maya Angelou

Fear of standing up and presenting
affects 75% of adults

Fifty per cent of all communication
is non-verbal.

Research shows that, on average, interviewers reach final decisions about applicants within four minutes of meeting them.

Our Approach

We believe profoundly that the ability to communicate effectively with confidence is one of the most important skills you can develop. And you don’t need to be an extrovert to achieve it.

Our coaching aims to provide a framework through which people can improve their impact. It draws on insights gained from 20 years’ experience in theatre and business, combined with the latest research in the field from renowned experts – coaches, psychologists, writers and researchers.

Driven by our belief that ‘authenticity’ is a key component in effective communication, our programmes are defined by a client or group’s specific character, situation and set of needs. That said, we will always focus on these key areas:

KNOWLEDGE

  • Know yourself. Develop a greater sense of self-awareness.
  • Know how you come across. Recognise how behaviours and narratives may act as barriers to connection.
  • Know your audience. Understand body language and audience perception.
  • Know your message. Define your objectives & structure your content to deliver.

TECHNIQUE

  • Focus on physicality and presence
  • Breathing and voice techniques
  • How to deal with nerves
  • Build a confident mindset and belief in the ability to perform well under pressure

CONNECTION

  • Access confidence when making an entrance – create a great first impression
  • Develop empathy and emotional connection with an audience through all facets of delivery
  • Engage an audience through storytelling and personal narrative
  • Link up what you feel inside to what comes out and land your message

I needed help to prepare me for appearing on a television show. Esther gave me techniques and exercises to help combat my nerves… without her help and guidance, I would not have been able to achieve so much.

About The Confidence Box

The Confidence Box was set up in 2016 by Esther Egerton. Esther gained a drama degree at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance and has worked as a performer for a number of years both in the UK and abroad.

She spent over 10 years in recruitment, dealing with clients in the corporate, retail, property, design, publishing and advertising sectors. In this role she interviewed countless people at all levels – from graduates to director level – and witnessed at first hand how the ability to communicate clearly and authentically goes a long way towards affecting successful outcomes.

The skills and experience she gained as both performer and recruiter means she brings a unique perspective to the world of business communication. She successfully blends insights from both worlds to create innovative coaching that helps people genuinely connect with an audience.

Esther also heads up Dramascape, a company which runs drama groups for children and young people with mixed abilities. The groups use drama games and exercises to help build confidence and encourage self-expression.
